about

A rap based on Exodus chapter 3

lyrics

I heard a voice speaking to me, calling me out by my name
Saying, I am the God of your fathers
He’s calling me and sending me out
Go speak to Pharaoh
I heard a voice, telling me to deliver
Saying, I have raised you up
He’s calling me out, calling me to Pharaoh’s house
To confront and set things straight

The Angel of the Lord appeared in the burning bush
Moses turned aside, I can’t look at this sight
God said, Moses, I’m the great I AM
I know about the oppressed people in the land
I want you to go to Pharaoh, bring my children of Israel
Out of Egypt, and tell them that my love is needed
Moses said, who am I to do something like that
My speech is slow, I’m not worthy to go
God said, don’t be afraid ‘cause I’m with you
Tell them, tell them, I’m the One who sent you
I’ll be right with you, I’ll never forget you
You know my light will come through, and shine like crystals
I’ll never leave that’s what a good father do
Moses, you making up all these excuses
Thinking that your voice is so useless
But I’m in charge of your usage
I’m the God of War, take up your sword
You can do this, I believe in you, Moses
I’m the God of War, take up your sword
You can do this, I believe in you, Moses

Moses, you will not go alone
I am with you, I am with you
